Over 30 years later, this book has stayed with me!

I checked this book out at the school library when I was 10 years old and I was immediately hooked. I am 46 now. This is one of the best books that made an impact on me as a child. My grandma was a doll collector and passed down that love to me. My focus was on porcelain dolls, so, any book I saw that had to do with dolls I immediately grabbed! This was such a cool book as a 10 year old and I admit, I did check it out at the public library again when I was in my early 40's. It's that good! LOL! Mary Downing Hahn has incredible books and this one happens to be my favorite!

Rereading

Read this in middle school, haven't read since my divorce 8 years ago. Decided to read this cause i couldnt remember anything that happened. Very good book to ease yourself back into reading

A spooky, moving story

Another well-crafted ghost story from Mary Downing Hahn, this book follows the adventures of Ashley, who moves into a rented appartment and starts exploring the overgrown garden. She comes across a doll, long buried, and sets out to discover why it is there, and what the mysterious cries that she hears at night are.Not a scary ghost story, it is very moving and I found myself crying at a few spaces. It might be a little cliche for an adult reader, but it is a great read for a younger reader who is interested in ghost stories.

Intreging!

This book may start out slow but it is so esensial and intreging. I read this at 11 in 3 days becuase of the suspense. If you like scary books, you'll like this.

" A Wonderful Story For Children"

The first time I read this book was when I was about seven years old. Now that I am older, I just watch it sit in my shelf. It is incredible for children and it is so easy to read, the vocabulary therein is easy for children. The plot of the book, is so amazing. Especially when that little girl comes into the picture to become Ashley's friend, you do not know who she is until you get to the end. It is suspenseful because you are always wondering whom that little girl really was. When you get to the end, you will not believe whom the little girl turns out to be. You have to buy it for your children, it is such a cute book.

Great children's book for challenged 4th graders.

I easly gave that book 5 Stars because when I read it it was a big tear jerker, I was by far my favorite book of all time.I couldn't put it down, especially after I read about the mysterious white cat that kept disappearing.It's a great book for kids aged 10 to 15.

An enchanting story by one of the best authors I know of

This story is great for children who enjoy the feeling of magic and enchantment.I even know adults who think the book is full of excitement and very well written.The characters are very real and easy to relate to.Containing mystery combined with sadness and love,this book is one that should be read over and over.
