Samantha "Sam" Rose Johnson is a tough, cynical, but law-school educated, Licensed Private Detective. When encountering thugs of any stripe who ask her who she thinks she is, she replies with a sardonic grin, "straight up bitch... comma optional." Sam is hired to find a young man who has broken off all contact with family and friends suddenly. Shocked and disturbed by what she discovers, Sam heads to Tequila Teqilia, a mixture of rage and depression consuming her. This is the last short story before the novel begins.
