The Day the Children Saved the World

By Phil Hall

Book Overview

Children don't have to wait until they're grown up to change the world.

In The Day the Children Saved the World, young readers discover that they already possess some of the most powerful tools for making a difference: kindness, empathy, responsibility, courage, and the willingness to help others.

Written by elementary school principal and educator Phil Hall, this inspiring picture book turns the idea of prosocial behavior-taking actions that benefit others-into a message children can understand and put into practice. Through an engaging story and colorful illustrations, children are encouraged to see themselves not simply as kids waiting to grow up, but as people who can make their families, schools, communities, and world better right now.

Perfect for ages 4-10, The Day the Children Saved the World is an engaging read-aloud for:

Families who want to raise kind, empathetic, responsible childrenElementary classrooms and school librariesTeachers and counselors teaching social-emotional learning (SEL)Character education and kindness lessonsConversations about helping others, community service, and making a difference

Hall's message comes directly from his work with children. As an elementary school principal, he has seen what can happen when children are given real opportunities to contribute to something bigger than themselves.

What if changing the world doesn't begin with superheroes? What if it begins with our children realizing the power they already have?

The Day the Children Saved the World invites them to find out.
