Julia Pomeroy's debut novel is bound to be the first of many. A really good read from a talented writer. I was captivated by the characters and story right from the start and just got deeper and deeper into in until I realized it was 3 in the morning but I still couldn't put this book down. Yes, it was worth stumbling through the next day! I'm eagerly anticipating Julia Pomeroy's next book.
Great characters & dialogue

This is one of those books I wish I could find more often. The characters are real and the dialogue is just how many of us would talk. Yeah, the lead character isn't a real detective but her deductive skills are logical and plausible. None of her discoveries are unreasonable. Many times I said to myself, "good thinking, Abby". I felt I was right there in this town working with her, side by side. The description and actions of the minor characters really made me laugh. They said and did things I have seen from people I know. For me, this was one of those books that I wanted to read quickly to see what happens but also didn't want it to end. Hope there is another book after this one so I can go on another adventure with Abby. A real pleasure
Don't Miss This One!

After reading the first few pages I was obsessed. The opening incident is so unusual and captivating one can't help but read further. After weaving my way through a repertoire of characters and circumstances, I was absolutely mesmerized. This book kept me guessing, but don't try to outwit this author.....I did and I was blindsided several times. The character descriptions are so vivid it's as though you know each of them intimately. And beware; she cleverly places several hints along the way that wrenched me deeper into the plot until finally I threw in the towel and read it cover to cover. The best mystery I have read in years....a terrific yarn!

Thoroughly enjoying. Her writing kept me riveted to each page and her characters seemed like old friends. Great dialogue and setting. Also thought it was a page turner, couldn't wait to find out how the author handled different situations. She has a knack for the unexpected.Would highly recommend this read! Hope there will be another one very soon. This is an author to keep on my list! Connie Gregory
Utter Pleasure

It's not a 'cozie', even though there's an accidental sleuth;not even really a 'mystery', although 2 deaths have to be solved. It's a sharply drawn window into the life of a young widow and her town. Abby is as real as your next-door neighbor; nothing she does is out-of character, and you keep wanting to know more about her. Even the 'minor' characters are fully developed people. I want more! About Abby, Franklin, Bantam, Dulcie....definitely a book to curl up with and get lost in.
