The Cursed One: A Halloween Short Story

By Alexa Madison Masters

What if you had to suffer all your days for the ones you love most?

Everything was perfect in the small town of Auburnville in Northern England. Everyone lived in peace, selling their goods, raising their families, and enjoying life in their free time. For Hailey Meager and her family, it was the place they had always called home.

Until one night, it all went wrong.

Mr. Meager was a hard-working maintenance man for Auburnville. When a sewer pipe breaks one night near the cemetery, Mr. Meager is called to the job to fix it.

But he never came home.

As thoughts and rumors swirl of a possible kidnapping in their once quiet town, the Meager family sets out to find the truth. But uncovering the truth involves far more than any of them expected. As secrets are revealed, Hailey must face the beast connecting her to her past, lest her family becomes lost forever.
