The Church Year

"So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom." (Ps 90:12) From the Archives of the Church of St. John the Evangelist comes this guide to the western Christian calendar as it is traditionally celebrated, drawing out for readers of all levels the connections between the practices of the early church and their reception by Anglican churches today. Originally prepared as a series of educational bulletins, The Church Year is suitable for parish or individual use, its brief and fascinating historical and liturgical overviews of well- and lesser-known Christian observances and their associated folk customs making the annual pilgrimage through our Lord's life, death, and resurrection accessible to all. The Church Year includes discussion of: Advent Nativity of Our Lord Epiphany of Our Lord Shrovetide Lent Holy Week Eastertide Trinitytide Saints' and special days (according to the Book of Common Prayer and the Book of Alternative Services) About the Author Peter P.
