TIME NEVER FORGETS
After believing they destroyed the abandoned church, James, Emily, Aaron, Tyler, and Megan return to find it standing exactly as it always had-untouched by fire and time.
Drawn back inside, they uncover a hidden staircase beneath the altar that leads to an ancient underground church buried beneath Benson, Illinois. There they discover forgotten journals, mysterious symbols, and evidence that generations before them fought to keep a terrible secret hidden from the world.
As reality begins to unravel, the friends learn the truth about the Time Stain: it is not a curse, but a wound in reality itself. Every bell that rings weakens the ancient seals holding the darkness at bay, and every forgotten name strengthens the force beneath the town.
The mysterious figure they once believed to be their greatest enemy-the Keeper-is revealed to be the last guardian, a lonely protector who has spent centuries preventing the Time Stain from consuming the world. The true horror lies beneath the First Church, where an ancient force feeds on forgotten memories, lost identities, and the passage of time itself.
When the Fifth Bell rings, Aaron gives his life to save his friends, proving that true courage is measured by sacrifice. His death changes the group forever, forcing James to accept that not everyone can be saved.
The remaining survivors journey to the ruins of the First Church, where they uncover the origins of the Keeper and the purpose of the ancient guardians. There they discover that the church was never built to imprison the darkness-it was built to remind humanity that some doors should never be opened.
As the Sixth Bell tolls, James, Emily, Tyler, and Megan stand beside the Keeper in a desperate battle against the growing Time Stain. Working together, they weaken the ancient force and prevent it from fully escaping, but they cannot destroy it. The Keeper remains behind to continue its eternal watch while the four survivors escape the collapsing underground sanctuary.
Outside, Benson appears peaceful once again.
But before leaving, James discovers an ancient map hidden inside his grandfather's silver pocket watch. The map reveals another location connected to the Time Stain, along with a chilling message:
"The first church was only the door."
Realizing the nightmare extends far beyond Benson, the four survivors leave town knowing their journey is far from over.
Book 4 ends with four survivors-James, Emily, Tyler, and Megan-setting out toward an even greater mystery, while the final words remind readers of the truth that has haunted the series from the beginning:
Time never forgets.
