Book Description: Silas Stanway is furious! How did he end up playing escort to Tilly at a Christmas wedding in Spain? He expects her to be scheming and desperate. Instead she's sweet and honest. But why does she need to hire a man? When they have to share a room, Silas assumes this must be part of his escort duties. But he's wanted Tilly from the moment they met--whatever the consequences.... The alpha-male character was well developed. Silas was a force to be reckoned with - self-assured, take-charge; possessive, protective, dominating; but not over-bearing, selfish, or cruel. Few authors give that type of depth to the supporting male character. I loved the story; however, I wanted Tilly to realize she judged Silas harshly and groundlessly, especially when one considers that she did the same thing. Silas' actions were basically intended to protect others (his brother, her and her mother included) though he did struggle with disclosure. Tilly had no such struggles offering her own omissions and half-truths, gave them little or no thought, and held Silas to a higher level of accountability. For a woman able handle herself in a male-dominated workplace, I found her allowing "the shrew" to "check her" then "checkmate her" somewhat frustrating. Whatever happened to "never let them see you sweat" - "fake it till you make it" - etc. I would have liked to see her play it off, think quickly, get back on her feet, one-up "Evilena"; and she & Silas handle their affairs in private. For me, unfortunately, Tilly at times appeared somewhat self-involved, judgmental, and unreasonable; and was NOT the strong woman she should have been when needed most. I would like to have seen certain things happen in the end. That said, this book should not be missed, Silas is ... particularly interesting!
