A College Requirement!

I gave this book to my son who will be a college freshman in the Fall. It is a must read to fully understand and position oneself in our global economy. While Lou Dobbs merely reports the exodus of jobs from America; David Ainsworth describes in depth how globalization evolved with true to life case studies. This book is highly recommended to anyone that does not want to end up on the short side of 'The Chasm'.

A Real Page Turner

This book is very well written that can only come from someone with vast experience on the subject matter. International trade, American business, labor and Japanese and U.S. political involvement makes this book a must read for all who like to learn from a fast moving book. If you start reading it when you go to bed, plan for no sleep, make sure it's a Friday or Saturday night. D. Robinson

A Great Read and Informative Too

A friend of mine recommended The Chasm so I dutifully read it. What a surprize! I couldn't put it down and I learned alot about trade with the Far East as well. The book opened my eyes to the complexity and consequences of Free Trade and at the same time I am caught up in a compelling yarn. I am a fan of Richard North Patterson who is quite similar. Give The Chasm a try. You'll be glad you did.

Good material for an MBA class.

An attention grabber from its opening pages. The Chasm offers a compelling, human look at the pressures of global economics on the welfare of working class Americans. With such issues as (1) an unfavorable trade imbalance, (2) the trend of outsourcing and (3) increasing interdependencies of trading nations, all neatly woven into the story line, The Chasm would provide a unique perspective for a case study in an MBA class. Highly recommended.
