This book analyzes the business of "close protection"--craft of the bodyguard. Yet the focus is on the bigger picture, which is the reasons bodyguards are essential in today's political climate. It looks at defending royalty, politicians, big businessmen, movie stars, and other potential targets for kidnappers and terrorists. Several famous cases are addressed, not with the focus on the assassin, but with an emphasis on security issues. Although this book was written 1988, the topic is even more timely today. As an added bonus, the book inlcudes many personal observations from Queen Victoris, who was an assassin's target herself.
