Blaise West is Kim Abbott's new boss, and he's even more formidable than office gossip led her to believe. Shy, tall and awkward, Kim's used to hiding in the background--but in Blaise's powerful presence, she feels feminine and desired It is a heady combination, but she knows she must resist. Especially when her playboy boss makes it plain that he longs to get to know his chaste secretary rather better...but that he will never offer her anything more than a temporary affair....
I loved this book, but I am a Helen Brooks fan from long ago. I am a sucker for any book with kids in it, but Lucy West is a spoiled little girl, although Kim understands right off, although it took me a few more pages to understand Lucy's rude behavior. Oh and by the way Blaise was abandoned when he was a baby. He later shows a letter from his mother to Kim explaining why she gave him up. Kim applied for a job, with the home office of her company, but she was up against Kate a very sexy vitch in the same office. She made sure Kim knew she didn't have a chance for the same job she was going for, even when Kim got the job, she didn't rub it in Kate's face, as I am sure Kate would have done to her. I've never been tall, but looking back at my favorite books, I was shocked to note most of the leading ladies were in fact small. Kim Abbott is 6 feet tall with no shoes on, she has always had a problem with men who are her height wanting small women. But her new boss Blaise West is not only much taller than she is but he is handsome, rich and a whole bag of chips. She pulls me into her books and won't let me go until the end of the last chapter. From the back of the book: 'From shy secretary...Blaise West is Kim Abbott's new boss, and he's even formidable than office gossip led her to believe. Shy, tall awkward, Kim's used to hiding in the background-but in Blaise's powerful presence, she feels feminine and desired! ...to his after-hours mistress! It is a ready combination, but she knows she must resist. Especially when her playboy boss makes it plain that he longs to get to know his chaste secretary rather better...but that he will never offer her anything more than a temporary affair...'
