A COMPLACENT FIGHTER

High School sophomore Sang Tae Hyun has a reputation even among the seniors at Woo Sang High for being one of the toughest fighters around and seems primed to become the boss of the school sometime in the future. But he only uses his skills to right wrongs among the student body and protect the weak. But a former student, Guk Do Jun, has re-enrolled and he hates the word "peace" even after the leaders of the school warn him not to try any funny business. He wants to overthrow the current power system at Woo Sang, but he doesn't want to do it out in the open and lose face. So he enlists his sworn blood brother, Chung Ki, the boss at rival Dae-Myung High School to take out the top three fighters at Woo Sang. Sang Tae is included on that list and Chung Ki soon makes a move by kidnapping a girl that he thinks is Sang Tae's girlfriend to lure him into a trap. If you're a fan of Tenjho Tenge, Air Master, or Ikki Tousen, you should enjoy this manhwa by author Lim Jaw-Won. What makes this different from most Japanese manga of this genre is that there isn't a tournament driving the plot, but instead it's a power struggle with a decent storyline and intrigue. Also, instead of the hero being a self-centered jerk that just likes to fight, Sang Tae flexes his muscles more when a wrong has been committed, whether it be against himself or others. He seems quite satisfied for his school to operate in peace and doesn't try to rock the boat or start battles...but he does tend to finish them. This is a good title, but unfortunately, like a lot of books published by ADV Magna, it was discontinued, with no books printed after the third volume. The rest of the series will probably never be available. So enjoy what you can get your hands on.
