The Body That Wasn't
Some crimes leave bodies behind. Others leave only questions.
Dr Thandi Mokoena knows how to treat wounds. After seven years working inside Motswedi Correctional Facility, she has learned that prisons are built not only on walls and steel, but on silence.
Then a prisoner dies.
The death appears straightforward. The records say one thing. The people who were there say another. And one inmate, Vusi Dlamini, seems to know far more than he should.
As Thandi begins to notice missing records, unexplained injuries and inconsistencies surrounding the dead, she is drawn into a mystery that reaches far beyond the prison walls. The deeper she looks, the more she discovers that some truths have been deliberately buried-and that someone is determined to keep them there.
But the danger is no longer confined to Motswedi.
As the investigation closes in, Thandi's work, her family and her own understanding of the people around her begin to unravel. And Vusi knows something about her that he should never have known.
Soon Thandi must decide how far she is willing to go for the truth.
Because the dead may be silent.
But the truth is not.
