Twelve-year-old Nova Vega has always watched the night sky from her quiet desert town. When a strange pulsing star appears above the observatory, she discovers it is not a star at all but a black hole.

One night, something falls out of it: a glowing Core with the power of a dying sun. Nova and her best friend Jay are pulled into a cosmic chase as shadow-creatures rise from the dark to claim it. If they succeed, Earth itself could be swallowed into the black hole.

Guided by a mysterious guardian, Nova and Jay must journey into impossible worlds inside the black hole, from floating islands of starlight to forests of singing glass and mazes that twist reality. To save their world, Nova must unlock the truth of the Core and of herself.
