A Truly Funny Sex Book

This is a truly funny book of jokes and comments. Remarkably most statements are referenced to an author. Among recent writers Dorothy Parker, George Burns, and Mae West appear repeatedly. Latin and Greek sages of Classical Antiquity have their say, Aristotle is quoted on what causes erections, Socrates has something to say on whether marriage or celibacy is preferable. Another book of the same period is cited, the Bible, particularly from Leviticus. Some of the funniest pieces are poetry, Robert Burns, Brendan Behan, even Shakespeare is not missing, though limericks are the most frequent. Oscar Wilde suggested: "Fastidiousness is the ability to resist temptation in the hope that a better one will come along"(p.35) On this subject I know of none better.

The best collection of dirty jokes you will find

This book is better described as containing 1001 dirty jokes, rather than 1001 sex quotes. What I found especially interesting was the age of some of the jokes, a few date back over one thousand years. Many of them are outright hysterical. One of my favorites was by George Burns, who on the eve of his eighty-seventh birthday said that one of the gifts that he would appreciate most would be a paternity suit. There is also the ultimate putdown of a guy; " I'm not your type. I'm not inflatable." Six foot ten inch cricketer Joel Garner had this response when a female supporter asked him if he was "built in proportion." His response was, "Lady, if I was built in proportion I would be 8 feet 10 inches tall." I laughed out loud at many of these jokes; they are some of the funniest dirty jokes ever written. While they were no doubt as ribald as they came when first written most of them now appear rather tame in terms of language and explicitness. There is the occasional use of the f-word, but it is rare, most of the jokes rely on the circumstances rather than curse words. If you like off-color jokes, then you will love this book.
