addictive fun....

I must admit, I am one of those people that sees a quiz in a magazine and I'm immediately looking for a piece of paper, pen and someone else to join me in the fun. This book has 100 quizzes, all of which are short, some only 7 questions long. At the end of each quiz it tells you a bit more about how you scored and what it says about you. Are they a serious analysis of your personality, well, no, probably not, but are they addictively fun? Yes! I plan to bring my big book of quizzes to Christmas Eve when my sister is in town so that we can drink wine, laugh and see how we measure up. The book is sectioned into 3 parts-Your Inner Life, Your Relationships & Your Career. Interested in finding out whether you are a perfectionist? How wordly you are? Whether you are a leader or follower? You'll find these in the "Inner Life Section". Want to find out if you can keep a secret? How well you read body language or what your coping style is? That is found in the "Relationship" section. Want to know what motivates you or how ambitious you are? Those are found in the "Career" section. A fun little book and a great little addition to a coffee table with a pad and pen handy for inner reflection. If you enjoy fun quizzes and don't take yourself too seriously you will enjoy this fun little book of quizzes.

Whimsical!

This whimsical little gem of a book can provide hours of fun at a "girls night" party at home. It has many interesting quizzes that address issues important to most women, such as...willpower, mate compatibility, forgiveness, anger, change, confidentiality, success,etc... The only part of the book that I did not like was the sometimes vagueness in scoring. The book scores many tests according to mostly A,B, or C answers. If you have a mix of answers, the end result can get a bit sketchy. Anyway, this book and its answers should not be taken as gospel. This is strictly for fun, with an occasional true result. So, on the next girl's night at home, pop the popcorn, open some wine, break out this book and have a blast!!!

Less about Psychometrics and More about Fun, Fun, Fun!

There was a reviewer who said this book takes itself too seriously. I don't see that. Take a look at the cover and you'll get the feeling that this book is all about FUN. If you learn a little something about yourself, or your girlfriends (think bridal shower, party, etc.) Good for you, I think the book has served it's purpose. In my opinion the book provides a little levity to all the armchair psychology that we are inundated with on TV, through books, ministry, and everywhere else we turn. If you are looking for a book that is going to tell you your innermost workings - don't get this one. This is light and fun. The operative word being FUN. Don't expect a Rorschach or some other type of test that is going to reveal psychosis, neurosis or anything in that vein. Expect levity and fun accentuating the positive to make you feel good -- if you approach it this way this book will find it's place with you and your friends. Similar to the little quizzes that circulate through e-mail, you'll find this book amusing and fun if this is what you are seeking. The fun cover says it all. I felt a martini in the other hand would have been appropriate too :) As a side note, I also loved the spiral binding. Makes it extremely easy to work with.

Fun and Informative Book!

What if by simply taking a few short, fun and informative personality tests you could discover your hidden potential in life, love and work? That's exactly what author Robin Westen says you'll find in her new book The Big Book of Personality Tests for Women. I believe she's right! What a fun and extremely informative book! As soon as my new book arrived I began taking the tests - I couldn't stop myself. I've always loved taking those fun personality tests found in various magazines. After reading the biography of Robin Westen, I think she probably wrote most of them. She's written personality tests for Cosmopolitan, Mademoiselle, Weight Watchers and a whole lot more for nearly 20 years, so I'd say she knows a few things about personality tests. These aren't the tests you've taken in school - they are entertaining and geared toward the subjects women want to learn more about. These also aren't the serious personality tests you'll find in a psychologist's office. They are a combination of entertainment and enlightenment. The book is a large spiral format so it lies flat as you're working with the materials. That's a big plus especially if you want to write in your book while working with the tests. The illustrations are fun and eye-catching. It's a book you just want to open, read and start using right away. To me, the real quality of The Big Book of Personality Tests for Women is in the fact that there is real substance. You'll learn more about yourself then you would have imagined. I'll say it again, there is real substance in the tests, the results and all of the interesting "how-tos" sprinkled thorough out the book. I found this book a fun and positive self-development experience. Robin breaks her tests into three parts: Part One - Your Inner Life (38 tests in this section) Some examples: Do you have healthy self-esteem? Do you need more quiet time? What's your best time of the day? Part Two - Your Relationships (35 tests in this section) Some examples: How well do you read body language? What's your coping style? Who is your best friend? Part Three - Your Career (27 tests in this section) Some examples: Discover your secret to success Can you handle power? How do you come up with great ideas? Each test should take 1-10 minutes and they're extremely easy to score. In my opinion if you want to get real value from this book - read the analysis of your results carefully and thoughtfully. The tests may be easy and fun yet the results have meaning and substance. I feel this is a self-improvement book disguised as personality tests. I highly recommend The Big Book of Personality Tests for Women! I can see women getting together with a few snacks, favorite beverages and having a personality test-taking party. In author Robin Westen's own words, "Remember: there are no right or wrong answers-only truthful ones."

great perspective

I started the weekend feeling terrible about myself- replaying all the moments in the week where I hadn't aced the situation. It was "girls night out" and one of my friends had brought this book along and after one or two quizzes we were hooked. All of these things about myself that I was struggling with were suddenly in perspective. The "results" of the quizzes were so often right on the money and the advice was so encouraging and fun. Suddenly I wasn't down on myself anymore but thinking about how I could make the most of my"true nature". Like a friend who listens well but doesn't pull punches this book told it to us straight and built up our strengths. Going into the week I'm feeling so glad fora weekend with my friends and a chance toput things in perspective. Thank you Robin Westen whhoever you are!!!
