Nice Topical Bible.

I have owned this when I ordered it (I just gave my copy to my father and ordered another), and I enjoy the presentation and selection presented. It's a nice topical Bible. It does have examples of the topics the verses cover, material that isn't in the Bible, but it is separated from biblical text. I don't have an issue with it, because it is clearly separated from the biblical text, but some people might if they are only looking for the Bible. I saw that this was partially put together by a Christian counseling association. This doesn't contain technical counseling knowledge; it does allow counselors to contextualize problems within a Christian lexicon, if that is what they are trying to do for a Christian patient. The lessons are timeless, and it gives a unique perspective. More people have helped themselves with the Bible than they have with a cognitive behavior workbook, but both have their place. I would argue that people should read the Bible before this, to become familiar with the context in which these verses are referenced, but I still recommend this book. The Bible isn't a book, it's a compilation of writings, and people don't need to read the entire thing to gain the context of one book, even from the conflicting accounts in the New Testament. That makes it much more approachable. I would consider this a nice and useful separate work, for those familiar with the Bible. Or a good introduction to ideas in the Bible, though without full context. They're not deceitful in this book, I enjoy it, but it's also not the same book that has dragged millions of people out of despair.

This is a wonderful help for those seeking God's word & those offering Christian counseling to others. It beautifully combines the New King James Version of the Holy Bible, along with helpful & insightful articles on "today's" pertainant subjects. One can trace God's Hand through out the Bible on any given subject starting with the Theme Article written by a foremost authority on the subject; then you move on to the Key Passage which underscores the topic from the Word of God; next you read a Personality Profile that highlights someone in the Bible who has undergone the same trial or blessing; then on to some Soul Notes where you can see examples of God's people living out the given topic you are reading about; finally there are more references for you to read in More Scriptures. After that, I go back & re-read the Theme Article to reinforce the subject. It is truely a blessing. It has been a great inspiration for myself & others with whom share it. K 4 Christ
