Awesome!

This is the best vampire story I have read in a long time! The characters are cool, sexy, and evil and perfectly described by Drew! The story line is great and really "sucks" you in! I can't wait to read the next book in the series! I highly recommend this to all those vampire story lovers out there!

Fang-tastic!

All you can say after finishing this book is "WHOA!". The Vampire Within is a wicked book from cover to cover. I loved it and I can't wait to pick up the next in the trilogy! There are small stories that play throughout that are all a part of the BIG picture.I liked the wicked humor here and there and the characters really pull you into the hell they are about to be apart of. This book is not that gruesome but,Drew Silver writes in a way that make the reader use their own imagination to complete the whole picture. That can be the scariest part of all! You will not be disappointed in this vampire story. It is well written and flows nicely...kinda like the blood through your veins! One of my favorite ways to describe these characters is in the book itself: Emily say that the group was like a twisted version of the Justice League. How great is that? After reading this book, you will set a new standard for vampire books! I know I am hooked! This book will definitely be a keeper. Great story Drew!

"The Vampire Within: The Beginning"--A TV Series or the Big Screen?

"The Vampire Within: The Beginning" is a must read. It is a mystery and a thriller wrapped up in one. It was difficult to put the book down until the very last page. The story and excitement mounted with each turn of the page. I can't remember the last time I read a book this well written. Silver was able to write this book in a way that it will appeal to a large group of individuals--high school students, college students, mature adults, vampire fans and those who thought they weren't vampire fans. "The Vampire" will remain on my bookshelf for years to come and be read many more times. I'm looking forward to the release of "The Vampire Within: New Blood" in May 2007. Silver has a way of pulling you into the story and painting a visual picture of the characters from the very first pages. As college students agree to an experiment drug that claims to cure ailments, produce better athletes and beauty they find out that the side effects of the drug may be a little more than they bargained for. "The Vampire Within: The Beginning" is written in such a way that you forget that you are reading a book and start visually seeing the characters play out the story. I would like to see "The Vampire" as a TV series or a movie. Whether you consider yourself a vampire fan or not, you will not be disappointed in "The Vampire Within: The Beginning."

A great vampire story

Reviewed by Paige Lovitt for Reader Views (7/06) "The Vampire Within" is a well written vampire tale. It is the first book in a trilogy. Students are approached by a research scientist to participate in an experiment that is taking place on campus. They are to receive injections that help them overcome their physical limitations - athletes are to become super-athletes. In the meantime, there are creatures in the area that are attacking people. It is discovered that these creatures were products from an earlier experiment. The students become involved in trying to avoid being attacked by these creatures. To add to the adventure there are men in black sedans chasing them. They also have to worry about the side-affects of the experiments. Some of them have vampire traits developing. The characters in the story are well developed. There are personal relationships that add richness and texture to the story. Because the characters are likeable and have depth, this adds to tension as you are reading the story. You are rooting for them to survive and overcome the creatures. The evil characters are also well described and not so likeable. This adds to the fun. Silver does a great job of describing the creatures and the action in the story. I had goose bumps during some of the attacks. I recommend this book to fans of vampire stories. I think that young adults will relate to the characters. I am not a young adult, but I still really enjoyed the story. You are definitely left wanting for more - more of Silver's books! I am really looking forward to the rest of the series.

Be prepared to be sucked in!

Instantly you'll feel like you're watching this on the big screen and you'll get to know the characters so well, you'll think they're right there with you. Drew Silver has mastered the art of character development and this story will pull you right in to the middle of all the whirlwind events that take place. It's one of those books that when you finish, you'll count the days to the next release! Don't pass this one up!
