What a breath of fresh air! Finally a real diet (lifestyle) that the common man can relate to! The author's life experiences in failed diets create a bond that all yo-yo dieters can relate to. What is different about this book is the ease of which you can project yourself into the positive results that the author achieved by simple lifestyle changes. Duplicating the author's result's seem in reach with the clear and uncomplicated diet and exercise instuctions and guidelines. Myself and my wife have found new motivation and hope!! We highly recommend this book! Don't let the title deter you.
It's not really a diet - more like a guideline.

I began my own common sense "diet" after New Years, cutting out the donuts, fast-food lunches, candy bars and sugared soda. I began to lose weight, but I didn't know what to do next. I haven't eaten healthy since army boot-camp 40 years ago, so I had no clue. My wife does weight-watchers, but it's too much of a hassle for me. Plus she can live on salad and veggies-I can't. This book reinforced that I was on the right track and helped fill in the gaps. Since it is not a diet, I can slowly phase-in his suggestions as I feel I need them. I'm lazy, so I haven't gotten around to exercising on a regular basis. Even so, I continue to gradually lose weight, have more energy and yet I never seem to be hungry. I'm also not afraid to have a beer or go out to a restaurant on the weekend. The author does care and responded very quickly when I emailed him with a question.
Here is why you need to read this book!

I actually bought this book for my 68-year-old father as he is obese, drinks beer, and I don't want him dying. It is clear that the audience for this book is regular people who need to get some health in their lives--ordinary people who would never pick up a diet book because diets can be so darn intimidating and the word diet scares people away. The auther says right away why he puts the word "diet" in quotation marks. We must get this word out of our vocabularys for good. Knowing you can cheat is the big reason he thinks he can follow this plan. The old man is not going to give up his beer. So he is listening for a change. At least the author proved one can lose weight and drinks beer--he lost over 100 pounds! While this book is titled "The Beer Drinkers Diet," it is not an beer only plan. I feel that this book is weight-loss plan for regular people. It is not a special Beer Diet as you may think. In fact, it is not totally about beer drinking, either. It just lets you know that having some drinks is OK and it wont ruin your plan.Per his web site, the the title comes from the fact that the author is a beer drinker--hence, The Beer Drinkers "Diet." He shows us how he lost 114 pounds of fat while drinking a few times per week.. The book begins with the author giving us a series of fun short stories that examine some of his previous attempts to lose weight while guzzling beer, but he then analyzes why each diet worked yet ultimately failed. He shows you why fad diets and diet pills didn't work by citing his real-life experiences. He then shows you how he finally lost 114 pounds in a really interesting and inspiring step-by-step manner, while, you guessed it, regularly drinking beer. He shows you that he is a regular person, too. That is why this book is so real. He really captures the fact that most of us have been through similar episodes in life,--tragedies and happy times. This part of the book is really intriguing and truly a great read. Totally original and a fantastic read. The next part of the book is a rather unique summary of the 50 best tips assembled from his real-life trial & error, and the interviewing hundreds of other successful dieters. The beauty of this part of the book is how he takes complicated scientific principles and explains them in such a layman's way. I have never seen this information explained in such a perspective. You understand what to do and how to do it when you put the book down. That is what separates this book from others--his original way of explaining things! How to integrate beer drinking is just the tip of the iceberg for this chapter, as we learn very cool info about food, exercise and our bodies that will be very helpful for anyone. This is a book tailored to ordinary people who may want to enjoy some beers and wine and he truly shows you how to integrate these into your life, as the author lost well over 100 pounds himself with the exact same plan. Yes, he suggests doing some exercise, but
A Great Read

Finally, a common sense voice that really tells how someone can lose weight in the "real world". What's more, you can lose weight while enjoying beer, your favorite wines, or high-end scotch. What in the world can Bill Philips tell us after Cailor? Cailor has no axe to grind, no products to peddle, he's the real deal. He's passionate about helping people lose weight...and he's been there! I look forward to seing him on TV as I know he'll be a true inspiration. I have written several books myself and found his writing very intriguing and very accessible. His voice is right on and it seemd like he is there cheering for you. He is genuine because he's gone through it all. Has Bill Phillips? Dont think so. Phillips even concedes that he meets many of his readers who lament they have gained back the weight they lost while on his "diet". It's the "diet" stupid. Cailor shows you how to "live" a healthier lifestyle that promotes weight loss...that's the real trick. But this book and find out for yourself.
