Southern fiction based on family history

Jeri Fitzgerald Board is a compelling writer. The Bed She Was Born In is a southern story based on family history. Anyone interested in life as it was lived around the Civil War years will find new facts on the strife and life of many southern women. You will find it difficult to keep your nose out of this book.

More than I anticipated!

I attended a breakfast at my neighbor's house in honor of Jeri F. Board, who is my neighbor's cousin. During this gathering, Jeri read a passage from her book which sparked my interest. She told our group that The Bed She Was Born In was about her family. I purchased the book before leaving and picked it up to read about a week later. I must admit, I'm not a fan of any war-related novels or any books related to war. Well, this book blew me away! I had a busy weekend planned when I began reading it but I managed to complete the book in those 2 days. Needless to say, many chores and obligations were ignored because I was just so into this wonderful book. The characters were real; the setting was real; the descriptions were intense. Thank you for enlightening me with such an entertaining read Jeri!

Read this book!

Wow! I finished this book in 1 day-I haven't read a book worthy of such a big chunk of my time in quite awhile! The 5 women characters are so wonderfully rich and engaging. You won't be disappointed. Read this book, and I am sure it will become one of your favorites of this summer, as it has of mine.

The Bed She Was Born In carries its readers the fascinating personal stories of five examples of empowered, empathetic individuals from 1865 progressively through to 1932. For its remarkable insights, The Bed She Was Born In is very strongly recommended for readers with an interest in feminist literature -- and a welcome addition to any community library American fiction collections.
