A must have for the Bayeux Tapestry enthusiast

This book is a must have for Bayeux Tapestry enthusiasts who want to see photos of the tapestry. Several pages of full-size photos of the scenes in the tapestry in full color show marvelous detail; there are pages of the tapestry panels to give the viewer an idea of how the events depicted in the tapestry unfold; and other pages each devoted to a panel with a large color photo and a description of the action. Black and white photos of the tapestry and other historical items (medallions, carvings, book illustrations, etc.; [many of these are religious imagery]) from the 6th through the 12th century make for very interesting reading. Includes a map, chronology, and an index of names. A good book for people interested in the history of the Middle Ages; iconography; historic textiles; historic embroidery; Anglo-Saxon and Norman interactions; the Bayeux Tapestry; and graphic story-telling.
