The Awakening: Book 1 of Valkyrie's Curse series

By Ellie Mack

Some discoveries are meant to remain buried.

Helena Eskildson has spent her life chasing the secrets of the ancient world. As an archaeologist, she trusts evidence, history, and what can be uncovered beneath layers of time.

But when Helena joins an archaeological expedition to Denmark, the discoveries waiting beneath the ruins of Roskilde are far more dangerous than anything she could have imagined.

Ancient rune stones. A forgotten Viking legend. A mysterious portal. And a destiny that reaches back to the gods themselves.

As unexplained deaths begin to haunt the expedition, Helena realizes someone is willing to kill to uncover the secrets hidden beneath the earth. Yet the greatest danger may not be human.

Something ancient is awakening.

With her sister Gabby, her friend Scott, and the enigmatic Viking warrior Aella at her side, Helena must confront a truth that threatens everything she believes about history-and herself.

Because the Valkyries were never merely legends.

And Helena may have been chosen for a reason.

The gods have awakened. The question is whether humanity will survive them.
