Sweet tale; I enjoyed it

I have read just one other book by Margaret Way, "Caitlyn's Prize". I've enjoyed what I have read. From what exposure I've had, I would recommend readers interested in touching, sweet tales that aren't heavy on sizzle to give Way a try. The male lead, Boyd, was 'all that and a bag of chips'! Handsome, charismatic, intelligent, athletic- all a woman could dream of and a man other men wish to emulate. I was disappointed more insight wasn't provided on his thoughts and feelings; the story is told exclusively from the female protagonist's point of view. Leona is described as beautiful, intelligent, sweet, considerate, fashionable. Infatuated, and most likely in love with Boyd- but in a naive and innocent way. I found the author's portrayal of Leona lacking; very unsure of herself and the place she held in Boyd's affections despite assurances. I was unsure if her perceptions of Boyd and the other characters presented were accurate or idealistic. I suppose one could consider it suspenseful, as the author draws out the unfolding drama. The conclusion wasn't predictable, not in an obvious way. It was a nice read, but I felt it had more potential- to be more than what I took away from it. Overall, okay.

Good books

Anything Margaret Way has written is good. I have some of her books from the 1970's and they were good, but her work got even better as time went on. Today's books can't be beat. Australia is the theme of all her books and her descriptions of the countryside make a visit to her country sound like an excellent vacation.
