War. Corruption. Overpopulation. Climate change. When Earth reaches a tipping point, the world's wealthiest man decides to reboot civilization on another habitable planet. Deemed "Project Exodus," the voyage includes 4,000 like-minded colonists, a political manifesto, and all the resources they can fit on their ship. But traversing the stars and establishing the first permanent colony on a new planet is merely the first step. The real challenge lies in their attempt at a sustainable utopia. The story spans three generations of colonists on planet Eden, from the first settlers of Project Exodus to the native-born and their own progeny. With each new generation comes an existential threat to their way of life, and one family always finds itself at the center of conflict. Meanwhile, an otherworldly figure lurks in the recesses of time and space, slowly working toward its own designs. The Artifice of Eternity is a sweeping science fiction narrative with elements of mystery, psychological fiction, and political commentary interspersed with media documents from Earth's past. It is an insightful appraisal of humanity's enduring pursuit to escape human nature.

THE ARTIFICE OF ETERNITY: A NOVEL
by Aaron H. Arm
This novel is set up into two parts that you follow through the book. One timeline follows a ship before it lifts off and after it is on the way to a new exoplanet, Eden since Earth and other planets are falling apart. The other part of the book is made up of news articles and the ship's handbook. Honestly, I could not read the book all in one go. I had to read the timeline for the ship first and then read the handbook part. It would have been a better book for me if it was written linearly.
A rich man spent a large chunk of his fortune to build the starship Exodus and send 4,000 people to a new, utopian world on Eden.
There were a lot of great ideas in this book, and the way it is put together may appeal to others, more.

Interesting Sci-Fi!
Published by CM Rosen , 2 years ago
Looking for some sci-fi to read? Read The Artifice of Eternity! This book gives an interpretation as to what might happen if overpopulation plagues the Earth and there is (literally) no more space. The interpretation is that part of humanity will pick up and move to another planet. In this case, it is the planet of Eden (yes, I got the reference).
You should read this book if you:
✅ Love sci-fi
✅ Like multiple timelines (this book follows three different generations).
✅ Like science (I feel like this book alluded to a lot of science that would be interesting for someone who is scientifically knowledgeable ;).
Now, to be honest, when I read the first 50 pages of the book, I couldn’t really figure out what was going on. But after reading for a little bit longer, I started to understand what was going on, so stick with the book!
This book was an interesting read, and like a lot of sci-fi got me thinking about what I would do if this actually happened. The Artifice of Eternity is well written and I give it 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.
Thank you to Aaron Arm for sending me an ARC copy of this book. All thoughts and feelings expressed in this review are my own.
