Interesting Book

I found this book very engrossing and an interesting take on life after death, etc. However, I was very disturbed recently after I watched the movie Passengers starring Anne Hathaway. I noticed several similarities, really too many to be a coincidence, yet the movie claims to be based on an original screen play. I fully expected to see this book credited at the end of the film. Of course, the book is by far better than the movie and explores depths that cannot be reached on film.

One Of My Favorites

"The Arrivals" is unique, easily readable and yet profound. Those who are familiar with the works of Immanuel Swedenborg will recognize elements of his book "Heaven and Hell". "The Arrivals" is a far, far easier read and introduction to some very seriously great thinking. Those who are familiar with near death experiences will find a familiar chord, especially when it comes time for the accounting of each person's life. It is not a New Age or self improvement book per se, but will cause constructive reflection. It is very thought provoking as well as comforting. I thought so highly of it I bought a number of copies for Christmas presents last year.

Good, Better, Best!

I enjoyed "the Lovely Bones" and found it to be a sweet narrative of what might happen when we go wherever we go at the end of our lives. THIS BOOK, however, gives a far more focused and meaningful account of "What's next?" Mrs. Smith is obviously a very smart lady, with a real knack for writing. Its hard to put this book down, and it makes you feel so darn good you hope it never ends. Or does it?

The Arrivals - Great Story, Serious Message!

Naomi Gladish Smith has written a thought provoking and engaging story which is ultimately about the mercy of God. For those who have struggled with the concept of the long term meaning of life and the fear and hope of "what happens next?", this novel gives a comforting and highly plausible account of how a loving and just God cares for his sheep. The striking feature is not only hope for eternal life, but a strong sense of the realism of truly human life after death. The unfolding of the inner persons of her characters is not really a surprise to observers of the human scene. Of course our eternal character is based on the loves we have developed in our earthly life. Of course it is merciful to allow that inner self to be revealed gradually. Of course the remaining anti-human feelings that we may have acquired have to be trained out of us. And what a great read! The characters are so engaging that we really find ourselves caring about how they will fare and closely following their unfolding lives. I strongly recommend this book to all who are curious about the human condition and enjoy a great story.
