The Anchoring of Adam

By Aiden Laraith

Out at the colonies, one month costs a year.

When Adam is drafted, there is only one way to bring him home. It cannot be bought, or assigned, or asked of a stranger, it asks everything, week after week, for the whole length of the waiting, of someone who already loves the one who left.

He has only Diana to ask. She is twenty-two, with a life she has barely begun to make, and she says yes before she realizes the size of it.

She has fifteen years to understand it now.

The Anchoring of Adam is a character-driven literary speculative novel about love, memory, identity, and devotion, and the strange distance between keeping a promise and living a life. For readers who want intimate science fiction in which the human consequences matter more than the technology.
