Hoping this becomes a series...

I just happened by this one in the local bookstore and was so happy to find it exactly what I was looking for. It is a fast read and thoroughly enjoyable- I have now passed it on to my Mom who is enjoying it just as much as I did. We were big fans of Bruce Alexander before his passing, and I find this book to have the feel of a combination of the Sir John Fielding books and a bit of Sherlock Holmes. Along with Legard and Montague, I am really hoping that McDonald will bring back Jimmy- he's a good addition to the cast of characters. More please... we're waiting. :)

Couldn't put it down!

The Anatomists is a riveting mystery. The characters are well-developed, and by the end of the book, I felt as though I really knew them. The plot is unique and is also well-developed. I had a knot in my stomach, and was on the edge of my seat by the end of the book. I enjoyed The Anatomists from the beginning, and couldn't put it down until I had read the final page. The ending was more suspenseful than I could have predicted. I can't wait for the next book from this author! I hope there will be many more to come.

Be Careful What You Dig For...

This is a mystery that will keep your attention until the end. I loved the style of writing. The author does an excellent job using dialogue from the London time period for which the story takes place. The characters are interesting and likable. The ending is unpredictable. I think any fans of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle would enjoy this book. I hope the author writes more stories regarding the two protagonists exploits. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good mystery.

Superb mystery

The anatomists is a mystery that holds your interest. The suspense is great, keeping you wanting to go to the next page to find out what happens next. The English setting and the era in which the story takes place provides an opportunity for McDonald to use words that are not in our every day vocabulary. The surprise ending is unique.
