Erasmus Twiddle knows that anyone can be a detective if they send four bottle caps, three proof-of-purchase seals from their favorite cereal, two AA batteries, and one rattlesnake skin to P.O. Box... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I think this book is really funny. The Auther puts the book in fun to read storie, and the people in the cases are funny too. You buy the book, you read it, then you thank your lucky stars that you read it!

This book is terrifically fun and engaging. I started reading it to my seven-year-old son and soon found him sneaking the book from his bookshelf and reading it on his own. He refused to put the thing down. He made me change my name (a la Bagby Butterbottom) and he made me spend half an hour with my face in the carpet, pretending to be a rubber chicken. I have glanced at the Publishers Weekly review on this site and find myself at a loss. Inane? banal? This book is neither. Eric Laster's so-called "repetitiveness" was clearly on purpose, and for the Publishers Weekly reviewer to miss it should tell you everything you need to know about Pub. Weekly. Who cares what adults think anyway? Every kid I know who's started reading this book, has read it until the end and can't get enough of it. Buy it. You will make a child happy.
a classic, funny kids' book that will prove timeless

This book is great--Eric Laster is such a smart, funny new voice for kids. How to describe this original book? It's a collection of stories centered around the title character, the mysteries he solves, and his assortment of amazing friends--Bagby Butterbottom, an aspiring actor who speaks in a hilarious combination of Shakespearean and pirate; Lolly Gallagher, a girl always accompanied by her own weather--and don't miss "The Case of the Lonely Rabbit-Hippo." The sporadic B & W line drawings perfectly complement the text--they're charming, almost Edward-Gorey-like, and have a lot of the same kind of humor as Laster's text.
