Terminology work in interpreting

This book examines the importance of terminology work for interpreters' careers. This thesis has two objectives: the first is to draw the attention of translation studies students to the importance of accurate and well-structured terminological preparation, with a view to delivering a professional interpreting performance. The second objective is to provide students with an overview of the lexical effort required for interpreting, along with practical guidance on how best to manage this aspect. The structure of this thesis comprises the first two chapters as the theoretical section and chapters three and four as the practical section. The theoretical section sets out the fundamentals of the neurolinguistic perspective on vocabulary acquisition and provides an overview of possible memorisation strategies, as well as an explanation of the lexical demands involved in the interpreting process. The final two chapters deal with the topic of terminological research and the drafting of a terminological paper, respectively.
