A Gripping"Twisted" Tale

"Terminal Condition" by David Shobin, is a gripping "twisted" tale that takes you through a textbook account of medical strategies and procedures for trauma victims who become guinea pigs for a corrupt doctor who uses them for experimentation with a new drug. The plot thickens as the researcher who discovers the powerful drug is murdered. When a recent trauma patient and the doctor who previously ministered to her become involved, they set out to find answers to all the strange occurrences taking place that puts them in a dangerous arena between two factions: the mob, and the one who plans to profit from the drug. The story is interesting, well-told, and held my attention throughout. For anyone who likes mystery, suspense, and action, you'll enjoy reading this book.

GRABS YOU FROM THE START! Messy, ... & realistic Thriller!

Gee Whiz!! I didn't think I would survive until the end, this was so good! I really enjoyed this story line, the characters were pretty well developed, and the possibilities for the comatose patient use is very startling. I LOVED IT!!

Suspense!

This book is a real page turner. It was my first Shobin novel and I kept comparing him to Robin Cook. I must say his characters are much more believable than Cook's. Above all the woman protagonist, because this is where Cook almost infallibly fails. I appreciated, too, that Shobin did not elaborate too much in scientific explanations. This would have killed the tension. I will certainly read all the other novels by David Shobin.

A Master of Medical Mystery

This is the first of David Shobin's books that I've read. I have been a fan of Micheal Palmer - mover over Michael. David weaves an erie tale of bizarre medical research and a quest to find the answer. It is one of those books that truly grabs you from the beginning and DOESN'T LET GO. This is the kind of book that I need to hold my attention.Congrats David. I shall read you again.

scary medical thriller

After enjoying last year's THE CENTER, I snatched up Shobin's latest the other day. The back blurb says he's a practicing physician -- and let me tell you, I wouldn't want to be one of his patients! But Stephen King and Mary Higgins Clark were right on about Shobin. God, can this guy write. Despite the glut of medical thriller writers these days, Shobin is head and shoulders above the rest of the pack.
