In 1944, students in an American History class are given a challenge: Research an American event and rewrite the ending. Follow high schoolers Anna, Ginny, Jack, and Carl as they meet Ada Bennett and delve into the life of Abraham Lincoln. How will the kids change the ending of a widely known moment in our country's history, and how will entering through a door in Ada's library result in an unexpected twist?
"We are so grateful to you, Ada. We all have grown to love you."
"And I, you," Ada said as she nodded her head. "You have become like my children. Oh dear, my great-grandchildren perhaps."
Everyone laughed.
"Now, I have one more surprise for you," she said as she clapped her hands with excitement. "Something I have been waiting to show you." She paused for a moment, then said something strange.
"You have embarked on a great mission, one yet to be completed."
The students cast a questioning look at one another.
"Go to the library, and there is a door by the bookcase that leads to something I want you to see. You go ahead. I'll join you shortly. The four made their way into the library and to the door. Jack opened it, and they all stepped through. The door slammed shut.
