Trapped in a cabin Brooke and Marc decide to have fun

Brooke Jamison was married to Eric for two years, which was how long it took for her husband to finally admit he was never going to be satisfied with just one woman. After the divorce the couple remain on relatively friendly terms while Brooke plays over in her mind the idea that it might be fun to approach sex the same way as Eric. Of course, this would be a bold step for a romantic like Brooke but the perfect opportunity for such a fling presents itself when she goes on a vacation with her sister Jessica and their friend, Stacey to the time-share winter cabin she still owns with Eric in snowy Colorado. However, Brooke's erotic fantasies are severely shaken when she discovers that he ex-brother-in-law Marc and his buddies show up at the cabin that same. You see, Brooke has always been rather attracted to Marc ever since he kissed her three months ago. Clearly, this is Fate lending a rather substantial push. For his part Marc not only likes playing the field as much as his brother, apparently a family trait, he also has the other major obstacle to romance namely the belief that he is incapable of making a commitment. You can also through into the mix that he has tended to think of Brooke as a kid sister when she was married to Eric. Consequently, both of the main characters are "Tempted" in this Janelle Denison romance when they end up alone in the cabin for a few days during a blizzard, which is enough to convince Brooke to make a proposal to Marc as to how they should kill time. Of course, having sex is easy, it is falling in love and forging a bond that is the hard part. Granted, the situation is rather contrived, the obstacles are nothing new, and Brooke is not the first woman to come out of her shell and be transformed into a sexual goddess, but that is hardly surprising (this is the 799th volume in just the Temptation series). "Tempted" is a solid example of having your cake and eating it too in the world of romance as by indulging in her deepest fantasies Brooke becomes the woman that Marc is not going to be able to live without. Denison creates a pair of likeable characters and has the most fun setting up the sexual tension before managing a smooth transition to the passionate parts of the story. Kenneth Burke once remarked that form was the creation of an appetite and the satisfying of that appetite by a auditor, and Denison delivers exactly what her readers would want. I wonder if such stories simply fuel romantic fantasies or actually inspire readers to engage in similar behaviors. Given the amazing number of romances published each month I assume the former and the rationale would probably be that readers do not see themselves in a similar situation to the heroine in terms of being unattached and having a hunk readily available or do not believe they have an inner goddess that can and should be unleashed. In her newest Temptation, Janelle Denison delivers a passionately appealing story which more than lives up to the Blaze emblem on the cover. The interaction between Marc and Brooke, whether talking in the kitchen or making love in the bedroom, sizzles with emotional and sexual tension. While the two are snowed in together, they both agree to answer a sexual questionnaire from a magazine, and the frank dialogue sparked during their discussion is especially pleasing, giving the book a fresh, very modern flavor, even among today's contemporary series romances. The secondary characters all proved interesting in their own right, and aided the plot. I am looking forward to her next book featuring Brooke's sister Jessica, and Marc's best friend, Ryan. The conversations between these two added touches of light humor to the story and gave a nice glimpse of things to come in their own book, SEDUCED.With scintillating dialogue and in-depth characters, TEMPTED reinforces my belief that Harlequin Temptation produces the best assortment of unique, sensual and entertaining series romances on the market today. I recommend TEMPTED to those who enjoy smart, snappy, sexy stories.
