The Town is a small society formed after a global environmental collapse that reduced populations to this small civilisation. The Town is governed by the sinister Supreme Council, who murder on a whim and rule to extremes.

The indoctrinated people accept that disobedient people, the disabled, and aging are routinely exterminated by the council at The-Sanctum-of-Well-Being.

Teg is troubled by his grandfather Jason's looming Dying Day and begins to ask illegal questions about why this must happen. As Jason becomes conflicted, Teg begs him to escape The Town with him and run into the Wastelands, as he has a plan.
