Te Amenthes

Chris Porter and David Shultz have been friends for years. Having met in grade school, they grew up together into young adulthood. After graduating from college, they both landed jobs at a local cemetery in Portland, Maine, where they are entrusted with digging graves and burying the dead. However, they soon get into the habit of grave robbing to make some extra cash.

One day, while watching television, Chris and David hear on the news about the discovery of a new pyramid in Egypt hidden under the sand, just outside the Giza Necropolis, where the Great Pyramids are located. The pyramid is made of pure obsidian stone, and through unknown powers, it somehow disappears from the sight of the living in the darkness of the night, then reappears during the day. The scientific discovery is added to the list of the ancient wonders of the world as scientists gush over the possibility that this could be the lost tomb of Akhenaten, who led a religious reformation in Egypt around 1340 BC. It is also rumored that Akhenaten's burial chamber was filled from floor to ceiling with gold, diamonds, and precious jewels.

Chris and David both discuss a plan to take their chances and go to Egypt to gain access to the pyramid and raid its riches for themselves in a single night, before anyone knew they were there.

What Chris and David fail to realize, however, is that this mysterious new pyramid was never meant to be discovered by humanity. It houses no pharaoh, no jewels or gold, or any riches of any kind. All that waits there is death and a direct entrance to Duat. A realm where the deceased journey after death in a perilous and dangerous new world. Filled with fallen gods, monsters, and trials that anyone who dares to enter will be forced to navigate through.

Chris and David will soon learn that when it comes to Te Amenthes, you only get one chance to go in.
