Take Me Home For Christmas ( Whiskey Creek #5) by Brenda Novak
This is the continuation of the whiskey Creek Series of Whiskey Creak, Small Town in California with a small group of people that knows each other since childhood. Everyone of us in life has a past. From childhood through adulthood. Some of us are lucky to have friends that remain with us all the way through from childhood right on through adulthood, even if we go away to college, or we tend to settle down and get married. Whiskey Creek has such a group of people of such friends, that gather and stick together. They known each other, their personalities, their quirks, every little nuance about them. That’s the problem with small towns, and people don’t forget and people tend to be relentless about certain issues. Sofia married for oney, it title dud she know… she was jumping into a firepan with a deceiving husband. Her first love harbored resentments and yet he still underneath it all had a heart for her… as Sofia tried to rebound from the deceit and devastation her husband put her and her daughter through, she had to go learn to become a commoner. Hard as it was, she didn’t mind the menial work, but she hated the way her former boyfriend made her feel it was a handout especially since was dating the woman that was helping Sofia. The whole town had turned against her and her daughter was getting attacked too. She just wanted to get out of Whiskey Creek. But love came forward and saved the day for all involved, saving grace, saving face, and Sofia did as best she could for the town what she could that her husband had done to them, except for those that were spiteful to her and her daughter. Brenda, woven a stolen of despair into a heroic stalwart young woman, who showed everyone she was not her husband’s advocate of swinging and manipulating people. She in the end showed her strength and determination to prove them wrong! Brenda has a great way to make Whiskey Vrerk resonant with strife, love, compassion, and good miss storytelling. I love reading her novels!
