When Vincent's wife transforms into a cat at a wishing well on their seventh anniversary, he does what any self-respecting alchemist would do, he tries to reverse it immediately, fails completely, and then stands at the edge of the pool arguing with the stonework until she meows at him to stop.
The well isn't working and the cure is somewhere else. So begins the most important journey of Vincent's professional and personal life, across mythical cities, with his wife in his coat and seven years of unfinished business between them.
On there way they visit, a city of oracles who speak only in questions, a floating bazaar that trades in memories, a singing city, where all formal communication is conducted through song and have many more unique encounters.
They need to find the Sister Well that can reverse the wish they made. But it can only be found by someone who is ready fo it.
Vincent has always been better at solving problems than understanding people. The road ahead is about to ask him which of those skills actually matters.
