Readable and Informative

Author Howard Siner describes 30 top baseball teams between the years 1920-1986. Each team gets a brief chapter that provides a nice view of the team, its stars, managers, and personalities. Some top teams, like the 1927 Yankees, were colorful squads that are well-remembered today. Others like the 1940 Reds or 1929 Philadelphia Athletics are largely forgotten. Also listed are the occasional great teams like the 1954 Indians and 1969 Orioles that lost the World Series to lesser competition. Some readers may dislike that about half the teams listed are Yankee squads, and fans from cities like Pittsburgh, Chicago, Washington, etc. have no entries in these pages. Also, the book came out in 1988, so top teams after that year go unmentioned. Still, this is an interesting, informative read for baseball buffs.
