Surgical Trends in Voice Implant Placement

Voice rehabilitation for patients who have undergone total laryngectomy has evolved significantly over the past 30 years thanks to the development of voice implants, which enable the production of a tracheoesophageal voice. The aim of this study is to provide an overview of current surgical trends in voice implant placement and to define the speech-language therapy protocols that facilitate optimal tracheoesophageal voice training. The results are relatively varied, but it appears that certain criteria must be met to enable this optimal training. And all these modalities are crucial points that must be observed and implemented to enable these individuals to regain not only a voice, but the best possible voice.
