Super Worm Wally was written in 2008 by my son Zachary Young at the age of 10 years old. It was a finale project for his 4th grade reading class taught by Ms. Shari Higashi at Salt Lake Elementary in Honolulu, Hawaii. My son Zachary passed away on May 2, 2026 at the age of 28 years old. He suffered from Bipolar and PTSD. At the sweet age of 10 my son wrote about always helping people and that is when Super Worm Wally was born. It is a sweet story that makes sense and yet it doesn't. I didn't want to change his story I wanted to publish it. Zachary left the story open so if you wanted to continue it you can. The funny thing about it was his last words in his book was, "P.S. Please don't cry you will get my book wet." It was exactly what my daughter, his sister did after reading the book out loud to me. It was the reality of Zachary no longer being with us that hit us hard right at that moment. I will continue to write about Super Worm Wally and his adventures for everyone to enjoy. I wish to spread awareness of the many kids and adults who suffer from mental health, bullying, abuse, and addiction. A week before my son made his way to heaven he told me, when I get better I want to help people who is suffering from life. I'm here to make his finale wish come true. At the end of the book there is national hotlines for whomever is in need. Always know that you are loved, even by complete strangers who just want you to be ok. If you need help say something. I will always be here to listen.
