Love, Second Chances, and Family

A familiar story of a family torn apart by divorce, the children (now adults) coming back together after a loss of a family member. This time it is the death of one of the twin sisters and the need to help their mother keep Lily’s dream of a glamcamp alive. I was aware that this was a theme I had read before but RaeAnne Thayne did an excellent job of keeping the story fresh and interesting. I wanted the family to heal. I was invested in seeing Violet and Cami learn to be sisters again. I wanted to see the camp succeed. I love the men of the story. Jon, who left his dad after a fight never to return has returned to his dad in his time of need. I love this. To me it says that family is still important even with their differences in the past. Alex, who has a daughter, has not let go of his feelings for Violet and I love that he gives her space while also being sure that she knows exactly what he would like. Alex shows Voilet the respect she deserves while also pushing her to let her feelings out. Summer at the Cape is a story of love, second chances, family, forgiveness, and happy ever afters. I love this book. I have read many of RaeAnne’s books and this is in my top five list of hers.
