Cute Teen Read!

My Thoughts: Another cute book! I totally love reading Rachel Hawthorne and this was the one I have been looking forward to most! It was so cute! I liked the whole idea of a guy coming and sleeping on her couch. Its always the weirdest ways people fall in love. Especially when they least expect it or want it. I like reading about the mysterious ways love works. This was a pretty fast read but I enjoyed each and every page of it. I felt her boyfriend who arranged the couch swapping was a little bit of a jerk, but the hot Aussie that came to visit her totally made up for it. A definite read for anyone who likes romance and I definitely recommend this book. It was a light and breezy read. Aimed more at young adults but I love young adult books so I enjoyed it very much! The best out of all her books I've read so far~ Overall: Fun light easy read! Another one of Hawthorne's books I loved! Cover: I thought the cover was really cute! (Reviewed by Princess Bookie)

Very Suite Indeed

When I pick up this type of book I am looking for three main things: 1. There is a real reason that the two main characters would be interested in each other. It isn't enough in my opinion to simply say, "he was hot, he was there, now we're madly in love". The characters have to connect, and have experiences that bring them together; they have to have quirks that are endearing and banter that is compelling. Suite dreams definitely delivered on this point. 2. The characters behave in a way that is appropriate to their age and situation without getting cheesy. So many young adult novels miss the mark when it comes to this criterion. I don't want to hear awkward slang, "cool phrases" popping up all over the book that make it difficult to understand and get into. Teenagers should act like teenagers, but it annoys me when authors try to shove 'teen-speak' in your face. I found that the characters in this book were completely believable. Their conversations were realistic as were their stresses and worries. I could honestly relate to everyone depicted in this book, so that's another big check mark. 3. The pacing has to be balanced. I'm looking for a page turner with this kind of book, and I don't want to be bogged down with too many long descriptors or lengthy analysis of what the characters are thinking and feeling and doing. On the other hand, if you jam too much into a story it feels unbelievable and fake. Suite dreams hit the mark once more, and kept the pace quick but realistic, with just enough description to paint the picture for me and let my imagination work. Humor was mixed in perfectly to keep me giggling along with the characters. I admit there was one part of the book that made me roll my eyes a bit, but overall, it was very well done. SO if you are looking for a teen romantic comedy, this is definitely my recommendation. It delivers on everything a girl could want in a book like this. I give it four stars, not five, simply because this type of book really isn't great literature or anything. It's a formula book, which is wonderful, but not really 5-star worthy.

fabulous

This is one of the best teen books I have read. It's definitely my favorite of Rachel's. Most other stories talk so much about the best friend, or the enemy or the family. This story was only about the guy and the girl from start to finish. How refreshing! It was wonderful to just enjoy the two of them the whole time. There were no silly games and the two were real - someone i could relate to. It was laugh out loud funny and really made me want to go to Australia just to hear all the great accents!

Get This Book!

Rachel Hawthorne is one of my favorite authors. I have all of her books and couldn't wait for this one to come out, I got it as soon as it came out and read it it one day. If you like Rachel Hawthorne's other books then you're sure to love this one! Great read if you're looking for a light romance to read for the holidays.

Amazing =]

I got this book in the mail for christmas and i just read it yesterday and Rachel Hawthorne amazed me again. i love Rachel's books and this one was just as good as her others, maybe even better. The books starts off with how Alyssa finds out that her BF of a semester practically dumps her to go to Australia for winter break doing this Couch Swap(not telling her about the couch-swap). Now with Alyssa with nothing to do over break she decides to work extra shifts and take some extra classes, thinking what a great break. that is until she gets off of work one night and runs into this Australian Hottie Jude. They hit if off from the start.....and he needs a couch to sleep on...
