Even Better than the Site!!!

I joined the site in June 2004 after being impressed with its content. I put off the book order for a while but just got it. I must say that this book fully excedded my expectations. The layout is first-rate. Much like the site everything is clean and well-organized. There is even an index of the girls at the back! The book begins with "Missy Suicide" explaining the story of the site. It then has images she shot. The quality of the prints is amazing. The detail allows you to fully appreciate the beautiful tattoo work that several of the girls have. Finally, the book ends with a section of self-portraits and clippings from the girls' journals. This adds a nice touch to the book. Overall I would say buy this book if you are a member or simply are curious and want to learn more about SG. The pricing is also very good considering the book is hardcover and all color.

Suicide made beautiful

Strong, independent, tattooed and pierced....everything women should be.This is an amazing example of what beauty should be. Everything about this book is top notch. The photograhy, models and editing are superb.Anyone with a taste for the darker side of things will love this book.

This book is an incredible collection of real people, in both photo and in excerpts from their own online journals. An eclectic collection of personalities and individuals are presented, not as objects, but as people. The photographs contained inside SuicideGirls are stunning, and when you connect the real minds to the real bodies, they become sublime.

The SuicideGirls book is indicative of a new style of erotic photography emerging in society, changing the face of art, pin-up modeling, and modern-day softcore porn moguls such as Playboy.Filled with pages of glamorous nude and semi-nude portraits, the models depicted are sensual, playful women, empowered by their sexuality. Atypical of most erotic photography, the SuicideGirls models are pierced, tattooed, dyed, taped, shaved, chained and otherwise exemplify an aesthetic born out of the alternative underground scene.The book is prefaced with an introduction by Missy Suicide, the photographer for the book, and details the inspiration that made the book, the photographs, and the related website spring to life. The last 50 pages feature stats written by the girls themselves, accompanied by self-portraits and journal entries showing off the diverse personalities and nationalities inherent in the book.As an artist, I find the beauty of the SuicideGirls breathtaking, and find it difficult not to whip out a sketchpad every time I see the photographs. I recommend this book to anyone who appreciates female sexuality and nude art--you're sure not to be disappointed by the revolution that is the SuicideGirls.

A Neat Lil Scrapbook

Very very nice collection of photographs from the website. In my honest opinion however, the girls that were chosen are basically the most famous ones on the site. I would have opted to go with a few different "models", but nonetheless the photos that were chosen are among the most memorable (just as the journal entries). The book is merely a sampling of what it is to log onto the site. It is just too bad there is not more, the book ends very quickly (as it is hard to put down and save for later). For any fan of the site, it is a must have book; to the people who are weary of joining, it is a glimpse into another world where things are just different... simply because they can be. This is peering into the world of other people, just like us, with a stylistic aura of attitude and appeal. To make it as simplistic as possible, the reason this book is here is because of the community that it is made of. Great shock value for the conservative! Be sure to at least check it out.
