Nor is she prepared for the hold Marta's family has on her.When Daisy rents a 'witch's' cottage in town, starts teaching what the people call 'the devil's works' at school, befriends a boy whose mother was labeled a 'witch, ' his 'devil' dog, and old Gert Bishop, another 'witch's' sister, the good people decide Daisy isn't like them. Furthermore, she develops an enemy in the most influential man in town.
