The year is 2092. After the devastation wrought by the Third World War during the 2020s, the nations of the Northern Hemisphere have united into the Union of Interdependent Nations. There, crime rates are low, poverty is rare, and citizens have access to technological marvels before the war. However, the Union is under threat from internal danger. An android rebel group causes chaos in the less populated areas along with their human confederates. To combat these threats, the Union's military contracted Spiritus Ex Machina, a military research agency, to create a new type of soldier. They asked for a truly artificially intelligent robot to fight for them, under the condition that it follow the Three Laws of Robotics. Spiritus Ex Machina built six prototype units, each with the Three Laws in a different sequence. This is the story one of those machines.
