The Language of Literature is a unique experimentation. It is a style. It is an ingenious expression of an exceptional literary artist who is grounded in the basic linguistics but conveys his ideals aesthetically more beautiful and stylized to capture the attention of his audience or readers. What gives impetus to this peculiar language is stylistics which majorly situates in foregrounding and deviation. In this book, the author has unveiled how and why literary artists foreground their literary works and what meaning and effects are generated in the areas of phonology, semantics, lexis, graphology, syntax, grammar and the manipulation of the English language by the African literary writers, which is championed by Chinua Achebe. The Author concludes that the literary artists is surprisingly applauded and commended instead of being reprimanded for having "bent"; "broken" and "flouted" the pre-set rules of language all for literary penchant. Thus, style and foregrounding intensify the language of literature to create extraordinary effect and special meaning to the reader.
