As a novice, I found this book to have lots of detailed information without being so technical to make it unreadable. The author's credentials are impressive, he carefully explains how the muscles work and how each exercise helps certain muscle groups. The author includes plenty of technical info. for those interested, but it's all in an easily readable format and the technical info. can be skipped for those not interested. The book provides rather dated black and white photos next to text describing how to do each exercise.
