Stranger in Dadland

The author's purpose for writing this wonderful book was not just to entertain the reader but to inform them about real life situations. This novel shows how strong dislikes can become strong likes. This brilliant book makes many points that reach across to the reader. Amy Goldman Koss brings her characteristic blend of humor and sadness that lead to a summer vacation that might be the first "real" vacation for John and his father. John lives with his mother and sister in Kansas. He always visits his dad once a year in Los Angeles, California ( aka Dadland) around the summer time. John never gets what he wishes for every time he visits. Just spending some time with his dad is all he's asking for. But when he meets his dad's girlfriend cora, who goes with them everywhere, he refuses to give up without a fight. He's sick of feeling like " a stranger in dadland." Beau, his next door neighbor, is John's resource for knowing everyhing about his dad. When John finally gets what he wants, his dad gets hurt and he has to get taken to the hospial. His "splendid" time turned into a miserable time. John care less because he gets to spend more time with his dad by taking care of him. His wish was granted. Soon enough John was heading back home to Kansas. This entertaining and amazing book has so many real life situations that a person can relate to. Children who love to read interesting and funny novels should definitely read Stranger in Dadland.

A Stanger in Dadland

The book is about a kid named John that lives with his mom and sister. He's twelve years old and his dad lives in L.A. Every summer he goes to visit his dad and hopes that he can have a little "dad time" with him.John is disappointed every summer because every time he goes to see his dad to L.A. his dad is busy doing his work and doesn't have time for him.John now is really tired of having to be without his dad and he feels like a stranger in dadland.I rated this book 4 stars because it was a really nice book to read and you learn that want to have fun with you but you need to give them time and not get mad at them because if they don't work then you wouldn't have a house or food to eat.
