It was a simple accident. Shinobu spilled milk on Miharu's bag that contained a kimono. All she had to do was apologize to him. But it's a real challenge because Miharu is known as the tallest and... This description may be from another edition of this product.
When I read this, I was struck by one thing- it has one of the best "confession" scenes that I've ever read in a manga. (This really isn't a spoiler as the couple gets together in the first chapter & the volume revolves around the two of them as a couple.) Koguma (the male lead) just gives one of the best expressions on his face as he embraces Shinobu (female lead). When Shinobu accidentally spills milk on a kimono owned by Koguma, she figures that her days are numbered. He's known as a bad boy by everyone around him & when he asks that she meet him at a specific location, she just knows that she's in trouble. When she arrives she discovers that he wants her to work off the amount of the kimono with her body... as an employee of his grandmother's kimono shop. Surprised, Shinobu readily agrees to work in order to pay off the expense of the kimono, especially since it means she gets to wear such adorable clothing every day! But as time goes by, Shinobu finds herself falling for Koguma's hidden charms. I really, really enjoyed this manga. Sure, it's a storyline that has been oft repeated in manga, but this series just drips with charm & cuteness. The art is really nicely done & fits the series well- while there are some action scenes, the series is very much romance oriented. The chemistry between the two characters is incredibly nicely done & I like that Shinobu isn't entirely sweetness & light. (Koguma does have some enemies & it is interesting to see her reaction to being kidnapped.) If you like shoujo series that are just plain sweet, you'll love this manga. I have to admit, it is one that I'm going to be collecting based on my initial reaction to the first volume. (I usually wait 2-3 volumes before collecting a series.)
