this is a very good step by step cookbook for beginning cooks or those who have been cooking awhile. there are a variety of recipes so it won't seem like you're trying the same dish over and over. Many recipes are simple, some are more complicated...but usually that only means it takes more time. it gives the ratio of carbs/proteins/fats which is handy to use if you're trying to limit fat intake for say getting into shape to run a marathon. the only negative to this cookbook is often some of the ingredients are awfully gourmet and you'll end up having to really search for some ingredients or adapt the recipe for what you have or can find. For instance the vegetables listed aren't always in your typical safeway or cheese are more exotic than you want to get. Overall the recipes are not very intimidating both in the way they are laid out on the page or to actually cook. It's a good book if you have some experience cooking and this is the first time you are wanting to start expanding your cooking repertoire.
