Excellent examples, but too many words!

The authors' extensive use of real-life examples, and the excellent exercises, makes this a very good book for an introductory course in statistics. On the negative side, I think it contains somewhat over-detailed explanations of basic concepts - which in turn makes this a rather long book. One could also criticise the book for not being good enough at fostering a critical attitude toward statistical methods - for instance about the rather arbitrary 95% significance level test.

The Best Introductory Book of Statistics

I'm a senior, business administration, Yonsei Univ. in Korea. I had studied statistics with this book. It made me interested in Statistics. A lot of examples made me curious to know about next pages. This book is very easy for students specilizing in other fields to understand statistics. There are, however, many theorems not proved. I think that I can't study statistics without proving theorems. Though theorems require calculus for proving them, I want complete proof. You can use appendixes. I really appreciate the author
